Current Projects

Vision Screening at Kit Clark Center in Boston

The Massachusetts Vision Foundation worked with the New England College of Optometry to coordinate a vision screening of elderly citizens at the Kit Clark Senior Center in Boston. Over 120 senior citizens were screened by doctors and students of optometry.

Spanish Language PSA On Diabetes Awareness and Care

The MassVision Foundation collaborated with the local chapter of the National Diabetes Education Program on creating a Spanish-language PSA on diabetes, aimed at Hispanic communities in Massachusetts. As diabetes continues to be a major public health issue, the PSA helped to create awareness of the complications that can arise from the disease.

Student Scholarships

The Massachusetts Vision Foundation awards a scholarship each year to a student from the New England College of Optometry, and a student from MCPHS School of Optometry, who intend to practice optometry in Massachusetts upon graduating.

Gerard Phelan Public Service Announcement

The MassVision Foundation teamed up with the Mass. Society of Optometrists to create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) promoting the importance of annual eye exams, using the video footage of football player Gerard Phelan catching the famous "Hail Mary" pass from Doug Flutie in the 1984 game between Boston College and Miami. In the PSA, Gerard explains that good vision helped him make that catch, and he emphasizes the importance of annual eye exams with an optometrist. View the PSA below:
